A 31-year-old who says she falsely has been accused of having an affair with a 50-year-old woman’s husband is suing the elder woman for $125,000 — claiming she has relentlessly harassed her by creating fraudulent Facebook, Gmail and Twitter accounts.
Annalee Venneri, 31, is suing the wife — Michelle Danielle Decker, 50 — claiming that Decker has attacked Venneri’s reputation by impersonating Venneri online and posting “false statements” over a years-long span.
The suit states that Venneri never has been romantically involved with Decker’s husband. Venneri used to be co-workers with him, according to the suit filed Tuesday in Multnomah County Circuit Court.
The suit claims that from March 2011 until December 2013, Decker hounded and harangued Venneri at home and at work with hundreds of “inappropriate and extreme phone calls.” The suit also claims that Decker has contacted Venneri’s family, friends and co-workers falsely accusing Venneri of being the other woman.
Decker, a Boring resident, pleaded guilty in March in Multnomah County Circuit Court to two counts of criminal misdemeanor telephonic harassment. The suit states Decker was charged for targeting Venneri. Although electronic court records don’t describe the terms of the plea deal, they do say Decker is to have no contact with her victim. A letter in Decker’s file says she completed 100 hours of community service this spring at a homeless shelter.
The suit also claims that Decker created a Twitter account in 2011 pretending to be Venneri — by using the handle @annaleevenneri. Most of the activity on the account, which shows only eight tweets, appears to be directed at Venneri about an alleged affair. Those tweets include:
“…if you want him just call me. Quit the games. Unless of course you know he wont leave he is spineless and a liar.”
“Not all your friends think you being with my husband is ok. How do you think I found out? …”
“the kids heard your message. Hope your proud. He’s not who you think he is is more like it. Trailer trash.”
The alleged character assassination has caused Venneri “extreme distress,” damaged Venneri’s career and made her afraid of “going out in public in Damascus and Gresham.”
Venneri’s also is suing Decker’s husband, Greg Decker — in an attempt to get him to formally declare that he never had sexual relations with Venneri. Reached by phone Wednesday, Greg Decker told The Oregonian that he has never been romantically involved with Venneri.
Michelle Decker couldn’t be reached for comment.
The suit was filed by Portland attorney Michael Fuller.
