Emily Templeton

Emily Templeton is a lawyer for the underdog and a recipient of the Multnomah Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Rookie of the Year Award and the Oregon State Bar’s Public Service Award. As the managing attorney of the Underdog Law Office Pro Bono Tenant Rights Legal Clinic, she provides critical legal assistance to low-income, disabled, and elderly tenants who would otherwise be unable to afford an attorney.

A graduate of Portland State University with a degree in Sociology, she earned her juris doctorate from Lewis & Clark Law School. Her legal career began in the consumer protection section of the firm, first as a law clerk and later as an associate, joining the section in 2022.

Committed to advocacy and leadership within the legal profession, she serves on the Oregon State Bar’s Consumer Law Section Executive Committee, the Legislative Committee for the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, and as a delegate for Multnomah County in the Oregon House of Delegates. Additionally, she is an active member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, the National Association of Consumer Advocates, and the American Association for Justice. Licensed to practice in Oregon State, Federal, and Bankruptcy Court, she is also admitted to the California State Bar.

Recognized for her leadership potential, she was accepted into the Oregon State Bar’s Leadership Institute, a competitive program designed for attorneys with nine or fewer years in practice. This initiative fosters legal professionals who serve Oregon’s diverse communities and develop leadership skills to enhance the bar’s future.

Beyond her legal work, she enjoys intermediate calligraphy, chess, and spending time with her partner and their four cats. In mid-to-late 2025, she looks forward to welcoming a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy into the family.
